To the anon who asked me about long-wearing red lipsticks, I’m sorry, I accidentally deleted your question (Tumblr is so buggy, argh!) but here are some suggestions:

Right now I’m wearing OCC Lip Tar in a shade called NSFW, and indeed it does fit the bill of what you’re asking for. OCC’s formulations are so pigmented that you only have to use a little tiny bit and spread it around with a lip brush, which means that it’s much less likely to smear or rub off. It’s also decent as far as comfort goes. NSFW leans toward pinkish-red a little bit; there’s probably a better shade you could choose instead if you want a true, classic, “Hollywood” red.

Gala Darling loves Kat Von D’s Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick so I decided to try it out, in a shade called Outlaw (a true 1940s brick red). I find it very drying and it comes off if I eat any food that’s fatty/oily, but if you’re just planning on wearing it to a cocktail-type event or something, it is a great shade. Might be a good idea to put some balm or gloss on top, though. Seriously, it is drying.

I am a long-time fan of MAC’s matte lipstick in Russian Red. I think it is truly the perfect shade of red - glamorous, cool-toned, timeless. It, too, is a bit drying, and will tend to come off if you eat greasy foods. However, I’ve found that it stays put pretty well when properly blotted.

My favorite “cheapo” red lipstick, if you need one at a drugstore price, is “Really Red” by CoverGirl, but it is actually more like a reddish pink, especially after being worn for a while.

One last possibility: I hate to recommend Lime Crime because their business practices are shady as fuck, but I have heard that their lipsticks tend to stain for days (which is widely regarded as a bad thing but which may be perfect for you). They have a red shade called Retrofuturist which might work for your purposes.

p.s. To anyone who is reading this who is one of those “I can’t wear red lipstick!” people: yes, you totally can. Just find the right shade for your skin tone.

ahahaha

I read the Examiner thread that chronicles all the crazy sketchy shit that Xenia Vorotova does (it’s the only toxic internet gossip I indulge in, I swear! and it’s not even gossip, it’s TRUTH with EVIDENCE) and every once in a while, when Xenia has done something really shifty, or just when things are slow, Xenia will post on the thread anonymously and say something rude/catty about Amy Doan (whom she seems to perceive as basically her arch nemesis and/or biggest role model).

Everyone always knows it’s Xenia because… who the fuck else would come on the Examiner thread ABOUT XENIA and post some random negative shit about Amy Doan (who is super fucking sweet and rarely messes up)?!

The woman clearly has some kind of personality disorder, for which I feel bad and wish she would seek the help she needs. But how does it help for her to “anonymously” trash someone who everyone knows she’s extremely jealous of?

It baffles the mind (and makes me laugh).

Bottom: Sugarpill’s Heartbreaker palette, which came out several weeks ago.
Top: Lime Crime’s Aquataenia palette, which launched this weekend at IMATS.

Nice job, Xenia, blatantly launching a palette with the same four colors as your arch nemesis. That’s not sketchy at all.

Okay, you know I think Doe Deere is despicable, but her hair is looking pretty ballin’ right now.

(I’m kind of excited to see the reports of whether she totally creeps on Amy Doan at IMATS this weekend, which… she will. She always does.)

There’s a discussion going on on Doe’s personal Facebook page about her latest blog post.

I made the following reply - submitting it here incase she deletes it and blocks me, which seems likely:

An important point is that you do not get to choose what is and is not offensive to other people or other cultures, because you do not have the same perspectives and experiences as them. You do not get to say “I don’t find this offensive and I don’t see why you would, so it’s not.” That’s not how it works.

It’s ultimately just really insensitive to try to profit from someone else’s cultural background, especially without having taken the time to actually research the culture and present an interpretation that is at least somewhat authentic.

i don’t understand why lime crime fans STILL continue to back doe and her shit after all of the evidence pointing towards her shitty business tactics. her make-up is poor quality; she used to (and probably still does) repackage wholesale micas and advertise them as 100% handmade, original colors; she is OBSESSED with amy of sugarpill cosmetics and tries to steal her fanbase; and now THIS racist garbage! i know there are more shady as hell things that she’s done, but it would warrant a full on rant. ): god fuck doe deere.

INDEED.
Honestly, Lime Crime… An “oriental”-themed palette? Really?

EDIT: My post was deleted and I was banned from the page. Way to go, Lime Crime.

Also, if you ever have an extra, like, 5 days lying around, you might take some time to read through all the comments on this Examiner thread about her. I’ve ploughed through about 20 of the ~197 pages of comments so far & have been laughing my ass off at how crazy this woman is.

Normally I do not encourage, condone, or participate in “gossip” but so much of this is actually proven by substantial evidence collected over long periods of time. Hilarious.
